Manual Transaxle
1. When the vehicle is stationary, depress
the clutch and brake pedal at
the same time.
2. With the clutch and brake pedal depressed,
shift the shift lever into N
(Neutral).
3. With the brake pedal depressed,
apply the parking brake.
4. Press the ignition switch and turn
off the engine.
Automatic Transaxle
1. When the vehicle is stationary, depress
the brake pedal.
2. With the brake pedal depressed,
shift the shift lever into P (Park).
3. With the brake pedal depressed,
apply the parking brake.
4. Press the ignition switch and turn
off the engine.
CAUTION
- Try not to idle the vehicle at high
speeds just before turning off the
engine.
- When the vehicle is parked on a
slope, make sure the transaxle is
shifted into P (Park) for automatic
transaxle. For manual transaxle,
shift the transaxle into 1 (First)
gear on uphill grades, R (Reverse)
on downhill grades and place
chocks under the tires.
- For automatic transaxle vehicles,
make sure the shift lever is shifted
into P (Park) when parking the vehicle.
If not, the vehicle might
move from external impacts.

Do not park the vehicle on a steep
hill. It may cause the vehicle to
move.
